It has been a long day but we are here and settled in. The flights were pretty good, except when we started our descent into Port of Spain. We ran into some "unexpected" turbulence and we dropped about 5000 feet...whoa...you should have heard the screams! Then when we landed the back of the plane started clapping...not quite, sure what was going on back there that the rest of the plane missed out on! :)
On the flight from Birmingham to Houston, was Patrick Murphy. Does that name ring a bell??? He is the coach of the 2011 College Softball National champs...Alabama! There was also what looked like an Alabama athlete on the plane also. Well, what do you know...while we were waiting at the gate for our flight to Trinidad that player walked up to the gate. I asked her if she was going to Trinidad and she said no, to Amsterdam! We started talking and found out she is on the U of A soccer team! And she is from the Netherlands. She is a sophomore and one of two girls from the Netherlands on the team. Her name is Pia Rijsdik, and we had a great talk. We had the privilege to pray with her for her flight home and spending time with her family over the holidays. She invited us to come to a game next season. We invited her to come to Selma. This was awesome day!
Christie says to turn out the lights...momma bear needs her sleep. Looking forward to a great week. On yea, we had roti and shrimp curry when we got home!
